The Coppell ISD recently participated in Baseball Night in Arlington. About 100 students, parents and staff members attended the Texas Rangersbaseball game against the Seattle Mariners.

Hank Blalock Out Of Rangers Lineup For A Month

Former All-Star third baseman Hank Blalock had surgery Friday on his right wrist and will be sidelined for at least another month.

Blalock has been on the 15-day disabled list since April 29 due to a torn hamstring. He recovered from that injury, then experienced wrist soreness due to carpal tunnel syndrome.

A cortisone injection earlier in the week failed to reduce swelling in the wrist. Hand specialist Dr. Tom Diliberti then operated.

Rangers general manager Jon Daniels said Blalock will need about 10 days for the incision to heal, then can start baseball activities.

After failing to respond to more conservative treatments for right wrist soreness associated with carpal tunnel syndrome, Blalock had surgery to alleviate the pain on Friday. He is expected to be out at least three more weeks.

Blalock hasn’t played since late April. He was first sent to the disabled list with a partially torn hamstring. After working through that, he agreed to change positions and move from third base to first. But while going through a crash course on the position, he developed soreness and the Rangers diagnosed it as carpal tunnel. Blalock first received oral anti-inflammatory medication and then an injection, but showed no significant improvement after either…
