Moments after dispatching Detroit last week with a complete-game win, right-hander Kevin Millwood said the enduring significance could be some added confidence.
So, this is what confidence looks like.
On Tuesday, Millwood one-upped his Detroit win with a second straight complete game, beating the Kansas City Royals 2-1 on just 94 pitches.
It was the first time in his career Millwood has authored consecutive complete-game victories. It was the first time a Ranger has had consecutive complete-game wins since Kenny Rogers had a streak of three in a row in 1994. And it was the second-fewest pitches by a Ranger in a nine-inning outing in the last 15 years. Rogers had a 90-pitch complete game in 2004.
